Bokaro: Family members of a migrant worker from Gomia block of the district have sought the state govt’s help in bringing back his body from Saudi Arabia. Satendra Mahto, a resident of Katwari village under Chatrochatti police station limits, died in a road accident on June 25.Mahto, 41, was a trucker. He left home on Nov 26 last year and was working as a truck driver with Hamad Saleh Al-Kaf Contracting Establishment Company. Mahto is survived by his wife, daughter Preeti Kumari, 21, and two teenage sons, Arvind and Mangesh.Bokaro labour superintendent Ranjit Kumar, when contacted, said, “Soon after the matter came to notice, the state govt initiated a process to bring the body back, for which basic formalities are being done. The Embassy is coordinating with company officials.”The incident has once again highlighted the large-scale migration of workers from Bokaro, Hazaribag and Giridih districts in search of livelihood abroad, prompting calls for stronger local employment opportunities to curb distress migration.
