Bengaluru: A family woke up to a shocking discovery after burglars gained entry into their villa in north Bengaluru early on June 5 and decamped with gold jewellery worth Rs 30-35 lakh.According to the complaint filed by owner Rohit Basumatary, 38, a resident of Prestige Oasis Villas on Adde Vishwanathapura Road in Rajanukunte, the family had gone to sleep around 10pm on June 4. Sometime before dawn, burglars entered the house through the kitchen door while the occupants were asleep in one of the bedrooms.The intruders reportedly moved through the house and entered the master bedroom, where they targeted valuables stored inside a wardrobe. Basumatary told police the burglars escaped with a large quantity of gold jewellery, including a 30-gram necklace, earrings, multiple ornament sets, gold chains, pendants and eight pairs of earrings.Police said the stolen items are worth between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 35 lakh, making it one of the major house burglaries reported in the area in recent months. The incident came to light when the family woke up around 5am.When they checked CCTV cameras installed at the residence, they found footage of two suspects entering the house around 1.20am. The burglars, wearing hoodies and jeans, had covered their faces with cloth.Rajanukunte police registered a case under Sections 331(4) (Punishment for house-trespass or housebreaking) and 305 (Theft in a dwelling house, or means of transportation, or place of worship, etc.) of BNS.With Inputs from Swathi Satheesh Kumar
