Panaji: The project management unit (PMU) of the CARES scheme has been officially named a registered space tutor by the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) until 2029. The team can now organise special space learning activities with Isro’s support for students in Goa which will likely help inspire children to become scientists, engineers, researchers, and technology leaders in the future.Students will therefore get a chance to join workshops, astronomy sessions, expert talks, innovation challenges, and projects about satellites, rockets, Earth observation, and other space topics. The recognition places Goa among a select group of institutions authorised to conduct Isro-supported space education programmes exposing students to emerging technologies such as coding, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), drones, 3D printing, and space science and technology.Another exciting plan is the creation of Whiz-Kid Learning Spaces in all 12 talukas of Goa. These special centres will help talented students learn more about math, science, coding, robotics, AI, and other new technologies. Students will also get opportunities to take part in competitions, innovation challenges, and research projects.Stakeholder consultations for establishing these centres have already been conducted across all talukas. The integration of ISRO-backed space education with the proposed Whiz-Kid Learning Spaces is expected to create a robust ecosystem for advanced STEM learning, enabling talented students from every taluka to access specialised mentoring, competitions, innovation challenges, and research-oriented learning opportunities. The initiative aligns closely with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises experiential learning, scientific inquiry, critical thinking, innovation, and multidisciplinary education.
