Go Digit General Insurance Limited has received a show-cause notice from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) seeking to recover over ₹20.51 crore, according to a regulatory filing made with stock exchanges on Tuesday.
“We hereby inform you that the Company has received a Show Cause Notice on 25th May 2026 from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence, issued under Section 74(1) of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, whereby a demand of Rs. 20,51,00,281/- (Rupees Twenty Crore Fifty-One Lakh Two Hundred Eighty-One only) has been raised by the GST Authority,” Go Digit General Insurance said in their exchange filing.
The Bengaluru zonal unit of the DGGI issued the notice on May 25 under Section 74(1) of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Act, alleging ineligible availment of input tax credit (ITC) by the insurer during the period from September 2022 to March 2024. The proposed demand amounts to ₹20.51 crore, excluding applicable interest and penalty, which could be levied in line with GST provisions.
In its disclosure, the company said the notice pertains to alleged irregular ITC claims and calls upon the insurer to explain why the demand, along with interest and penalty, should not be confirmed against it. Go Digit stated that there is no immediate financial impact at this stage, as the matter is still at the show-cause stage and no order has been passed by the tax authority.
“The Company is evaluating the SCN and, based on advice from its tax advisors, shall file a detailed reply with the adjudicating authority within the prescribed timelines, and shall pursue all legal remedies available to it,” the company added.
Go Digit added that it had made earlier disclosures to the exchanges on the issue and has now updated investors in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
