ANANTNAG, AUG 15: The Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has restricted the entry and movement of medical representatives (MRs) in OPDs, wards and casualty areas of the college and its associated hospitals during duty hours.
The order, issued by Muqbil Lateef Hussain, Administrative Officer, GMC Anantnag, said it had come to the notice of the authorities that medical representatives (MRs) were “freely roaming” inside OPDs, wards and casualty areas and, in some instances, were found checking patients’ prescriptions.
The college said such practices were detrimental to patient care and hospital discipline and interfered with the smooth functioning of clinical services.
As per the order, MRs have been barred from entering or approaching doctors or patients in OPDs, wards and casualty areas for promotional or professional purposes during duty hours.
They may meet concerned doctors only after duty hours, provided it does not cause any disturbance to patient care or hospital functioning.
The order directed Heads of Departments, faculty, consultants, resident doctors, outsourced security staff and other concerned officials to ensure strict compliance.
It further stated that any violation of the instructions would be viewed seriously and could invite disciplinary action under the relevant rules.
