Kanpur: A 19-year-old polytechnic student allegedly died by suicide by hanging in her private hostel room in Kakadev late Tuesday, police said.According to the family, the girl had come to stay at the hostel only 15 days ago, as she used to commute daily from her village to Kanpur for studies.The hostel operator informed the police after discovering the body. ADCP (Central) Archana Singh reached the spot and called the forensic team to collect evidence.Police also recovered a suicide note from the room in which the girl allegedly referred to the family’s financial condition.“Now you people do not need to worry about the expenses of my studies and marriage,” the note read, according to Kakadev police station SHO Dharmendra Kumar Ram.The girl’s mother said she last spoke to her daughter on Tuesday morning. She said she called her daughter twice around 9 pm, but the calls went unanswered. Assuming that her daughter had fallen asleep due to exhaustion, she did not try to contact her again.Police said the body has been sent for a postmortem examination and further investigation is underway.
