Ghaziabad: GDA board will meet on Thursday to deliberate on 17 proposals, including revised development, permit and inspection fees for 2026-27, following a state govt hike. The board will also review a recently approved Rs 100 crore allocation to strengthen fire safety systems in high-rise buildings. Other agenda items include land acquisition for Aerocity and the second phase of the Harnandipuram township project.“One of the most important proposals that has been included in the agenda is budgetary provisions to boost the fire safety mechanism. Rs 100 crore has already been allotted, and now it requires the board’s sanction,” said a GDA official. In the aftermath of the Gaur Green Avenue fire, GDA sanctioned Rs 100 crore to procure two hydraulic platforms that can reach a height of 102 m or up to 30 storeys. As of now, the district fire department has a hydraulic platform, which can reach only up to 42 m or 14 storeys, and the recent fire incident exposed the risk. The city, as of now, has over 400 high-rise apartments and buildings, especially concentrated in areas like Indirapuram, Crossings Republik, Raj Nagar Extension and Sidharth Vihar.Another important proposal that will be deliberated upon is increasing the development, permit and inspection fee for the current fiscal year. The state govt has already effected a hike of about 4% for FY 2026-27.For GDA’s ambitious township, Harnandipuram, the board will acquire land under the second phase. In the first phase, a layout plan for 336 hectares from three villages — Mathurapur, Shamsher and Nangla Feroze Mohan Nagar — has been made.A sanction will also be sought for acquisition of about 200 hectares of land for its Aerocity project in Morti.A formal nod from the board will be sought for Ghaziabad International Cricket Stadium, which will jointly be developed by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association and GDA. The Authority is seeking money for the project under Urban Challenge Fund, under which the central assistance will cover 25% of the project cost and 50% of project cost will be raised through market.
