The gaur was rescued in an eight-hour-long operation

Dharmapuri: Forest department personnel rescued a gaur that fell into a 50-foot-deep farm well near Kottampatti in Dharmapuri district on Thursday. Officials said the gaur strayed out of the Ammapalayam reserve forest and fell into a farm well. On being alerted by residents, forest department personnel from Harur reached the spot. A forest veterinarian tranquilised the gaur to ensure its safety. “We used a crane and lifted the gaur out of the well without injuries in an eight-hour-long operation,” Harur forest range officer Ananda Kumar said.The animal was later released into the Ammapalayam reserve forest.
