Chandrapur: A fully grown female Indian gaur was found dead in Zharan forest range of Chandrapur district. Preliminary findings suggest sunstroke as likely cause of its death, amid soaring temperatures hovering around 44°C.The gaur was discovered near Bhatali Road in Compartment No 117 of Akasapur Round after residents alerted forest dept on Saturday. Foresters led by RFO Sandeep Madavi rushed to the spot and initially suspected a road accident, as the carcass was lying near the roadside. A detailed inspection found no injuries on the animal and no evidence of a vehicle collision. Veterinary officer Dr Prajakta Lengure held on-site post-mortem exam, following which sunstroke was identified as probable cause of death.
