Nagpur: Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday asked teachers and professors to ensure their votes were not rendered invalid and to take colleagues along to vote in Nagpur Graduates’ Constituency election.Gadkari was addressing a meet of teachers, professors and educationists organised by the Manthan group at Gadkari Wada in Mahal to campaign for BJP candidate Sudhakar Kohale.Spelling out what he expected from those present, he said, “Power, struggle and beauty never last forever. Everyone must therefore recognise their responsibility and work with strength and cooperation for Kohale’s campaign.”Pointing out that the party had won the constituency several times earlier, Gadkari said, “Every voter must recognise the value of the vote and work to raise the polling percentage.”Convener Vishnu Changde briefed the gathering on the Manthan group’s work and earlier programmes. Gadkari answered questions from teachers and professors on their issues.Separately, Kohale addressed graduates’ meets in BJP’s Trimurti Nagar and Subhash Nagar mandals in the city.Kohale explained to the voters what set this contest apart. “The graduates’ constituency election is for educated voters and its nature is different from a general election. Personal relations with voters, consistent contact by workers and the ability to reach every voter are crucial in this election,” he said.He asked workers, who had made door-to-door visits to register graduate voters, to explain the importance of voting and ensure voters turn up on polling day.Kohale pointed out that the seat was associated with CM Devendra Fadnavis and Gadkari. “We have got an opportunity this time to erase the regret of having lost this seat earlier,” he said while urging all workers to campaign unitedly.BJP Nagpur city president Dayashankar Tiwari and city election in-charge Girish Deshmukh attended both mandal meets.
