Nagpur: Gadchiroli police and CRPF teams recovered 14 firearms and explosive materials buried by Maoist cadres in a dense forest near Kumanar village in the erstwhile Maoist headquarters of Abujmarh along the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border.Acting on specific intelligence, special operation teams from Pranhita, a BDDS unit and CRPF personnel launched a search under SP M Ramesh. The operation was carried out in the jurisdiction of the newly established Bangadi police station.The recovered cache included one SLR rifle, one .303 rifle, seven 12-bore rifles, three single-shot rifles, two BGL launchers, three SLR magazines, one IED, and two batteries.Officials noted that Maoist activity in Gadchiroli has been reduced to a negligible level, with cadres now forced to hide arms and explosives in remote forest patches. Similar recoveries were made on May 23, May 27, and June 27, this year.
