Nagpur: In the 1980s, when Maoism spread into Gadchiroli from erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Tatigudam, a village over 100 km from the district headquarters, is learnt to have hosted one of the key annual conferences of banned CPI (Maoist) party. District collector Avishyat Panda recently visited Tatigudam, in Aheri taluka, as part of an outreach to interiors for implementation of govt schemes in the district, which is now out of the Maoist grip.The village, which was once the nerve centre of the Maoist movement for years, is looking for better facilities. Locals also flagged difficulty in getting birth or caste certificates.“Tatigudam remained out of the mainstream for years. The objective is to see that govt’s schemes reach the deepest corner of the district. A direct conversation with the villagers helped in assessing the problems faced by them,” Panda told TOI.The district administration would now work to ensure locals get benefits of schemes they are eligible for. “Facilities are expected to improve in the coming day,” he said.The collector also ordered a door-to-door survey and preparation of a report on schemes that have not reached the locals. The district administration officials were directed to flag hurdles faced in implementing the schemes. The collector gave directives to issue age certificates to locals through the district’s medical superintendent.
