Jamshedpur: A fruit merchant was shot dead by unidentified assailants at the Complex Ground near Golmuri police station on Wednesday morning. The victim, Kanhaiya Yadav, in his late 40s, was out on a morning walk when three bike-borne unidentified criminals raided the site, and opened fire at him. However, they fled the spot immediately following the incident.Onlookers and fellow walkers rushed to the spot and immediately alerted the police who took Yadav to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) where he succumbed to his injuries late in the evening. The BJP has demanded from the police to arrest the culprits in 24 hours else party will resort to agitation.
Dy SP (Law and Order) Sunil Chaudhary said the matter is under probe to ascertain the exact cause of the firing. “CCTVs installed in the surroundings of the ground are being scanned to identify the culprits, besides intelligence is being gathered to get leads,” the Dy SP told media.The victim’s family members told police that Kanhaiya did not have enmity with anyone.
