Union home minister Amit Shah on Thursday expressed confidence that the BJP would win the upcoming assembly election in West Bengal and “drive out every single infiltrator” from the state after coming to power.

Shah, who is on a three-day trip to Seemanchal in Bihar, addressed a Sahastra Seema Bal event in Araria. “Elections are around the corner in West Bengal. I am confident that BJP is going to win. Upon formation of the new government, we shall drive out every single infiltrator,” he asserted. “Making Bihar free of infiltrators… was not just an electoral promise. The campaign to make the country free of infiltrators will soon begin from Bihar’s Seemanchal.”

Infiltration is a threat to national security and threatens the demographic balance of any region, he said, adding that infiltrators take the resources which are meant for the citizens of the country. “Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Assam are the most vulnerable to such demographic disturbance. The Narendra Modi government is committed to maintain demographic balance,” he said. The Union minister said that he will hold meetings with central government officials, Bihar government, district magistrates, superintendents of police and district development officers in Seemanchal, and that a detailed roadmap will be prepared to make the area free of infiltrators.
