Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s final photo electoral rolls were published on Tuesday for all 60 Assembly constituencies after the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026.According to Arunachal Pradesh chief electoral officer Pawan Kumar Sain, the state’s total number of electors now stands at 6,96,026. This includes 3,43,709 male electors, 3,52,315 female electors and two third-gender electors. The final rolls reflect an elector-to-population ratio of 43.61 and an improved gender ratio of 1,025.The revision exercise began on June 5, 2026, following directions from the Election Commission of India (ECI). The total number of registered electors stood at 8,87,505 as of June 2. Booth-level officers distributed enumeration forms to all registered voters to verify their details, of which 7,18,046 were returned.A total of 1,69,459 electors whose forms were not returned were initially excluded from the draft electoral rolls published on July 21, 2026. The election department attributed the unreturned forms to several reasons: 78,980 electors had shifted; 54,678 were absent or untraceable; 25,573 were deceased; 4,947 entries were duplicates; and 5,281 fell under other categories.During the draft-roll phase, 6,32,871 electors were mapped either as self or progeny, while 85,175 remained unmapped.To verify the rolls, the election department issued 2,18,588 notices between July 21 and September 18. These included notices to the 85,175 unmapped electors and 1,33,413 electors flagged for logical discrepancies. Following hearings and document verification by electoral registration officers (EROs) and assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs), 28,899 electors were declared ineligible because their documents were inadmissible or deemed unsatisfactory.During the claims-and-objections period from July 21 to Aug 20, the department received 18,598 applications online and offline. Subsequently, 8,803 new electors were added and 1,924 entries were deleted, bringing the final tally to 6,96,026.The final electoral roll for service voters was also published, with July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. It includes 5,552 service electors.The CEO advised citizens to verify their details in the final rolls, which are available at the offices of EROs, AEROs and booth-level officers, as well as on the official website, ceoarunachal.nic.in. Electors aggrieved by an ERO’s decision can file a first appeal before the district magistrate within 15 days and a second appeal before the CEO within 30 days under Section 24 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.Soft copies of the photo-less final rolls were distributed to representatives of recognised national and state political parties at a meeting held on Tuesday.Continuous updation remains open.
