Indian para-athlete Dilip Mahadu Gavit expressed his joy after winning the gold medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, saying he overcame a slow start by picking up speed to secure victory. Although the 400 meters is his primary event, Gavit said he thoroughly enjoyed competing in the 100-meter race. Hailing from the small village of Tora Dongri, he recalled how he was working on farms before his coach spotted his talent and brought him to Nashik for professional training. On the occasion of Guru Purnima, Gavit dedicated his gold medal to his coach, calling it a special gift for the mentor who transformed his life.
