Patna: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted a fresh raid at the residence of Parsa Nagar Panchayat chief councillor Ayesha Khatoon in Saran district. After the search, the agency took Ayesha’s son and ward councillor Mohammad Karmullah Ansari to Patna.According to police sources, the raid is linked to suspected activities involving sophisticated weapons, including AK-47 components, alleged foreign funding and a possible arms-smuggling network. The probe may also be linked to weapons recovered earlier in Muzaffarpur and an alleged international arms trafficking network. The NIA had raided the residence on Dec 18, 2024, in an operation lasting 10 to 12 hours, during which digital devices were scrutinised. Sources said Karmullah had earlier been named in arms-smuggling cases and jailed.
