Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway posted its highest-ever monthly revenue of Rs 763 crore in July, aided by strong growth in freight operations, passenger earnings, parcel services and other commercial activities, railway officials said.Freight remained the largest revenue contributor, earning Rs 584.5 crore during the month, a 5.6% increase compared to July last year. Passenger revenue stood at Rs 147 crore, while earnings from other coaching services rose 32% to Rs 22 crore. Parcel revenue increased 7.8% to Rs 7.2 crore, and ticket-checking income grew 31.3% to Rs 2.1 crore.Divisional railway manager Ved Prakash attributed the achievement to the coordinated efforts of the commercial and operating departments.The division registered notable gains in freight operations, handling 4.5 million tonnes of cargo during the month. Wagon turnaround improved by 13.3%, while Naliya Freight Terminal recorded its highest-ever monthly freight revenue of Rs 3.9 crore.
