Chennai, Sept 15: The sight of deer and other wildlife moving freely in and around Chennai has left a visiting media delegation from Jammu and Kashmir pleasantly surprised, with senior journalists describing it as a striking example of peaceful coexistence between humans and wildlife.
The 13-member media delegation, visiting Chennai under a press tour organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Srinagar, observed deer and barasingha moving freely in their surroundings during their visit to various locations
The sight prompted discussions among the journalists about wildlife conservation, protection of natural habitats and the need to develop greater public sensitivity towards animals.
The journalists said that the unhindered movement of wildlife in areas frequented by people reflects a degree of tolerance and awareness that can play an important role in conservation. CNS Media Group Chief Editor Rashid Rahi said the experience was both fascinating and thought-provoking.
