Kanpur: Four directors of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), whose terms are ending, are likely to be reappointed at the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) to be held here on September 30.The four directors are Abhishek Singhania, Riyasat Ali, Ashok Chaturvedi and Pradeep Gupta. The UPCA has 13 directors. As no election is scheduled this year, all five office-bearers are expected to continue in their respective posts. The AGM will also witness the nomination of members of the UP T20 Council.There is a strong possibility that incumbent chairman Sanjay Kapoor will be renominated for the post.Kapoor’s successful handling of the fourth season of the UP T20 League is understood to be one of the major reasons behind the support for his continuation. The league concluded in Lucknow on Sunday, with around 30,000 spectators attending the final–a record turnout for the tournament. The UPCA officials said Kapoor had lived up to the confidence reposed in him by the association.The AGM is also expected to see the announcement of new selection committees. A decision on the appointment of the coach of the UP senior team for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season, which begins next month, is also likely to be taken.Top UPCA officials, including life member and BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla, were present during the UP T20 League final in Lucknow on Sunday.It was in their presence that a consensus was reached to hold the UPCA AGM in Kanpur on September 30..
