In a concerning turn of events in Purnia, law enforcement apprehended four suspects following the shooting of an Intermediate student, Divyanshu Kumar, on February 3rd. The incident, ignited by a disagreement on social media, resulted in the victim sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. Police also seized a firearm, mobile devices, and the motorcycle used in the crime.

Patna: The Purnia police on Friday arrested four persons allegedly involved in the shooting of an Intermediate examination candidate in Kritayanand Nagar police station area on Feb 3. The incident took place while Divyanshu Kumar (18) was returning home after appearing for his examination at Saraswati Vidya Mandir. Police said the attack stemmed from a minor dispute over social media post.The arrested accused have been identified as Abhinav Kumar, Piyush Kumar, Amarjeet Kumar alias Chhotu, and Rounak Kumar. All four have been sent to jail.Purnia SP Sweety Sehrawat said four motorcycle-borne miscreants shot at Divyanshu in the leg while he was returning after his examination. The bullet passed through his left leg. He was admitted to Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Purnia, for treatment.Considering the seriousness of the case, a special investigation team was constituted under the leadership of the Sadar SDPO-II.Sehrawat said police recovered one country-made pistol, five cellphones, and the motorcycle used in the crime. “All the accused have confessed to their involvement during interrogation,” she added.During questioning, Rounak reportedly disclosed that he had a dispute with Divyanshu about a month ago over social media post. The disagreement escalated into abusive exchanges and threats over several days. Police said Rounak allegedly planned the attack and tracked Divyanshu’s movements. When the student was returning home after the examination, Rounak and his associates carried out the shooting.
