Pune: A man, along with his son and two relatives allegedly tried to mow down his son-in-law with a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Manchar, about 65km from Pune, on Saturday.Manchar registered a case against the four accused under sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115 and 118 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The 27-year-old victim, a resident of Ambegaon taluka, lodged the complaint. An officer from the Manchar police said the complainant, a farmer, had married the accused’s daughter against her family’s wishes. The complainant’s wife had also lodged a complaint against him regarding domestic dispute.“The complainant told us that his father-in-law, brother-in-law and two relatives had posted a status on a mobile messaging app threatening to run him over with a car. Around 3pm on Saturday, the complainant and his friend were on a motorcycle, when the accused followed them in an SUV. They drove ahead, then turned back and rammed the motorcycle.” the officer said.“They fell and sustained injuries. The accused took out hockey sticks and iron rods and assaulted the victim, while chasing him. The accused fled after people started gathering,” he added. The complainant was taken to a hospital and lodged a complaint after receiving treatment.
