Hyderabad: A large garbage dump on the Miyapur–Bachupally stretch near the RTC bus depot has become a major concern for residents and commuters travelling to ORR exits 4 and 4A. Locals have complained of foul odour, scattered waste and repeated dumping on the vacant land. The dump, located along the busy road connecting Miyapur, Bachupally, Bollarum and the ORR, has turned the roadside into an eyesore. Heaps of mixed waste, including plastic covers, food waste, and other discarded materials, have accumulated over time, with the problem worsening as the surrounding area has experienced rapid residential growth.Residents of nearby colonies and apartment complexes said the dump has become a daily nuisance. “This is a key road used by thousands of people every day, but the stretch has turned into a dumping yard. The smell becomes stronger in the evenings and after rain, making it difficult to pass through the area,” said Srinivasa Rao, a resident of Bachupally.Locals also pointed out that stray dogs and cattle frequently tear open garbage bags, leaving waste strewn across the road. Besides the foul smell, residents said the dump creates a poor impression of the locality, which has emerged as a fast-growing residential hub in recent years. They urged civic authorities to clear the accumulated waste, prevent further dumping and implement measures to maintain cleanliness along the stretch.“The land is under dispute, so we are unable to erect a fence there. As a result, garbage is being dumped on the plot. We are trying our best to clean the premises,” said an official from the sanitation wing of the Miyapur circle, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC).Furthermore, residents pointed out that periodic clean-up drives have failed to solve the problem as fresh waste continues to be dumped at the site. “The garbage gets cleared, but after a few days it starts piling up again. There has to be a permanent solution,” said a local shopkeeper. As the Miyapur–Bollarum–Bachupally road serves as a key corridor connecting commuters to the ORR, residents have called for stricter enforcement against illegal dumping and regular maintenance of the stretch. They urged authorities to implement a lasting solution before the issue escalates into a serious public health concern.
