Chandigarh: With the monsoon approaching, the Federation of Sector Welfare Associations Chandigarh (Foswac) has flagged delays in road recarpeting and pending civic works, urging the municipal corporation to expedite action to prevent further deterioration.In a meeting with the municipal commissioner Amit Kumar, a delegation led by chairman Baljinder Singh Bittu highlighted the urgent need to complete road relaying across sectors and take up long-pending development works without delay.The body also raised concerns over cleanliness, maintenance of parks and green belts, pruning of dangerous trees, and removal of encroachments from markets and footpaths. Traffic congestion and parking issues were also flagged, along with the need to strengthen basic civic services.Foswac further sought simplification of community centre booking procedures and improved facilities for social functions.Members also pointed to localised issues, including erratic water supply in Sector 21-C and encroachments by mechanics and vendors in Sector 21 market.The municipal commissioner assured the delegation that the issues would be examined and appropriate action taken.
