Bengaluru: The National Federation of Girls Islamic Organisation (NFGIO) Saturday launched its month-long nationwide campaign, ‘Embracing Femininity,” which will run from Aug 1 to 31.Drawing on the Islamic concept of fitrah—the innate nature of human beings—the campaign advocates what it describes as a “third space” between two perceived extremes: cultural confinement on one hand and relentless productivity coupled with emotional detachment on the other.GIO units across the country will organise conferences, campus meets, panel discussions, art and poetry competitions, a social media campaign, a seven-day Femininity Journal initiative, women’s support circles, and felicitation programmes honouring unsung women in local communities. The initiative will culminate in an international online conference on Aug 16.
