Mangaluru: President of Confederation of SCs & STs Organisations, Lolaksha, has demanded action against Justice HN Nagamohan Das, who headed the one-man enquiry commission on internal reservations, alleging a violation of the provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.On Thursday, Lolaksha told reporters that he had submitted a complaint on May 5, 2025, but no action had been initiated. He said he would submit another complaint to Civil Rights Enforcement (CRE) police station in Mangaluru.Referring to a recent Supreme Court judgement, Lolaksha said it made it clear that any person professing a religion other than Hindu, Sikh, or Buddhist shall not be deemed a member of a Scheduled Caste. However, he said Justice Nagamohan Das had stated that a person belonging to the SC category could claim benefits even if he or she professed Christianity or Islam.“The Supreme Court has made it clear that a person from the SC category loses the SC status after converting or professing Christianity or Islam,” he said.
