Mangaluru: A delegation led by MLC Ivan D’Souza met social welfare minister KH Muniyappa and requested a grant of Rs 5 crore for the construction of an Ambedkar Bhavan in Kunjathbail village, Surathkal hobli in Mangaluru city limits. The initiative is being spearheaded by the District Adi Dravida Samaj Seva Sangha.During the meeting, delegation members, including sangha president Raghunath Attavar, Sanjeeva Kotian, Anand Attavar, Eshwar, Avinash Kunjathbail, and Prashanth, appealed for the immediate release of funds for the proposed community hall. MLC D’Souza apprised the minister that the new Ambedkar Bhavan is designed to feature comprehensive infrastructure to support community development.The delegation explained their plans to provide facilities in the proposed Ambedkar Bhavan to the minister. The proposed building will have a grand auditorium and a secondary mini-hall; a skill development and training centre managed by the cooperative society; a dedicated office for the women’s wing; a Kuladaiva (family deity) study centre and equipped spaces for various training programmes, said sangha members.D’Souza said that Muniyappa responded favorably to the appeal, assuring the delegation that a decision will be finalised within the next 15 days to release the necessary funds. Expressing his gratitude, D’Souza noted that the minister’s positive response brings immense joy, as this crucial project will significantly contribute to the educational, social, and economic upliftment of the community.
