Noida: Two men were arrested for cheating a Delhi-based couple of nearly Rs 90 lakh through a fraudulent property deal. Those arrested are Ratna alias Ratan Singh and Sonu, both residents of Jewar. On Monday, Jewar police filed an FIR on the complaint of Dipika Jain and Sunil Kumar Jain, residents of Lajpat Nagar, naming Ratna and six others. They claimed that a broker named Puneet Bansal approached them with an offer for a 0.98-hectare property in Mahbolipur village. The plot was said to be in the name of Ratna.To lend credibility to the offer, the broker and the other accused, all acting as intermediaries, showed the complainants land ownership records on govt portals.The complainants on Jan 30 paid Rs 87.7 lakh to the accused. However, they soon found all the documents to be fake. Even in the property transfer deed, they found conflicting details on land ownership.The FIR was filed under sections 318(4) (cheating), 338, 336(3) and 340(2) (all related to forgery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is under way to nab the other accused persons.
