Ranchi: State govt has set up high-level committees to check the use of forged certificates in admissions to govt and private medical, dental and Ayush colleges through NEET-UG and -PG counselling.Three committees have been formed under the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) to verify domicile, caste, income and disability certificates submitted by candidates. The documents will be checked online with the authorities that issued them.Institution-level committees will separately conduct physical verification of the documents before admissions are confirmed. Until now, certificates were verified only online.“JCECEB committees will first verify the documents online with the competent issuing authorities to ascertain whether they are genuine. Institution-level committees will then physically verify them. This two-tier verification system is being introduced from this year,” health department’s additional chief secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh said.Singh said the process would apply only to candidates seeking admission this year. Students already enrolled in medical, dental and Ayush colleges would not be covered.If a document is found suspicious during scrutiny, it will be sent to the deputy commissioner of the district concerned for physical verification. The DC will have to submit a report within 10 working days.The candidate concerned will be granted provisional admission pending the report. Admission will be confirmed only after the document is found genuine.If any certificate is found to be forged, the principal of the college concerned will immediately cancel the candidate’s admission. Legal action will also be initiated against the candidate.The move follows several cases of forged certificates detected during medical admissions last year. In Dec 2025, the admission of first-year MBBS student Kajal Kumari was cancelled after her caste certificate was found to be forged.At Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital in Dhanbad, MBBS aspirant Sucharita Datta of Godda lost her admission on Nov 13, 2025, after verification found that her ST certificate was fake. An FIR was subsequently registered at Saraidhela police station.Medinirai Medical College and Hospital in Daltonganj also cancelled the admission of first-year student Anshu Raj on Dec 20, 2025, after his caste and residential certificates were found to be fabricated.
