Panaji: Goa police investigations are set to move faster with the establishment of a forensic psychology division and an e-Peshi (Nyay Shruti) video-conferencing facility at the directorate of forensic sciences, Verna.Chief minister Pramod Sawant will inaugurate both facilities on Tuesday.The forensic psychology division, created through state funding, will introduce advanced tools such as polygraph examinations and the layered voice analyser (LVA), reducing reliance on laboratories outside Goa.Set up at an investment of around Rs 70 lakh — Rs 28 lakh for the polygraph system, Rs 35 lakh for the LVA, and about Rs 7 lakh for infrastructure and furnishing — the division will support investigating agencies with scientifically validated assessment methods. It is expected to assist in complex investigations, promote ethical and evidence-based interrogation practices, and improve the speed and accuracy of criminal investigations.To strengthen technology-enabled justice delivery, the directorate has also set up five video-conferencing cubicles for e-Peshi (Nyay Shruti) in line with the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.Developed at a cost of approximately Rs 41.3 lakh through state funding, the facility will allow forensic experts to depose before courts across Goa and the country via secure virtual platforms, reducing travel time and ensuring timely expert testimony without disrupting laboratory work.The twin initiatives are expected to improve investigative efficiency, support faster judicial processes, and reinforce the state’s commitment to transparent, technology-enabled, evidence-based justice delivery.
