CHENNAI: Leader of opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin hit out at chief minister C Joseph Vijay over a spate of murders across Tamil Nadu, including a daylight double murder in Tirunelveli, and questioned what the government and “dummy CM” were doing to maintain law and order.The criticism came after brothers Dalton and Nicholas were stabbed to death in broad daylight in Tirunelveli. In another incident, a youth identified as Ajith was hacked to death by a gang in Chennai’s Ice House area following a dispute over competition in ganja sales.Pointing to the death of woman police constable Kannagi in Paramakudi after she was allegedly pushed down, Udhayanidhi, in his X post, said even police personnel responsible for preventing crime were not safe under the present regime.He also pointed out that nine murders had been reported in just two days in Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvannamalai, Salem, Kanyakumari and Theni’s Cumbum area.Questioning the CM’s response to the incidents, the LOP asked, “With murders taking place one after another and people having no sense of security, for whom is the CM running this reels govt?”He further accused Vijay of remaining indifferent to the deteriorating law and order situation and asked him to stop “eating mixture” and take firm action to curb the spate of murders and restore confidence among people.
