Bengaluru: The Greater Bengaluru Authority’s ‘Safe Footpath’ drive continued Tuesday across all five city corporations, covering nearly 55km of roads in an effort to clear encroachments and improve pedestrian infrastructure.Meanwhile, the Joint Action Committee of Street Vendors, comprising five associations, has announced a protest at Freedom Park Wednesday against the eviction drive, alleging that vendors are being removed without due process and rehabilitation. On Tuesday, Bengaluru Central City Corporation covered 6.3km across eight roads, clearing encroachments from Residency Road, KR Road, Mysore Road near KR Market, Fort Road, and Dhanvantari Road.Bengaluru North City Corporation cleared encroachments on eight roads, covering 13.4km, while West City Corporation took up 15 roads, spanning 12.7km, including Dr Rajkumar Road, Soap Factory Circle, Hosakerehalli Outer Ring Road, and roads in Kengeri and Rajajinagar.Bengaluru East City Corporation cleared eight roads, covering 11.2km, including stretches in Whitefield, Shantiniketan to Hoodi Circle, Horamavu bridge to Ramamurthy Nagar bridge, and Mahadevapura underbridge. South City Corporation took up seven roads, covering 11km.
