Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Saturday closed a food retail unit after finding a stock of misbranded products during inspections at six food establishments.The civic body’s food safety team, with the respective ward teams, inspected one retailer, one food vending establishment and four restaurants in the Waghodia-Bhayli Road, Old Padra Road, Karelibaug, Muktanand Circle and Sama-Savli Road areas. Samples of paneer and a pre-packed food stabiliser were also taken for testing.The retail unit Bhavika Vision, located below Bright School in Karelibaug, was closed after officials found a stock of misbranded products during the inspection.At Pizza Point on Waghodia-Bhayli Road, officials found unhygienic conditions and issued a Schedule-4 notice. Similar action was taken against Hari Om Dalbati on Sama-Savli Road, which was also fined Rs 5,000.At restaurants Apna Punjab and Jay Mahakali Sev Usal near Muktanand Circle, officials found unhygienic conditions and destroyed 80kg of inedible vegetables on the spot. The two establishments were fined Rs 5,000 each.The civic body said fines of Rs 15,000 was recovered during the joint inspection drive, while two units were issued Schedule-4 notices and one unit was closed.
