Varanasi: Water level of the Ganga is normal, and as of now, there is no flood-like situation in the district. According to official water-level data received from the Central Water Commission, no flood-like condition has arisen in Varanasi at present.In view of the possibility of flooding, however, district magistrate Satyendra Kumar conducted an on-site inspection of the water levels of Ganga and Varuna rivers, along with riverbank areas, potential flood-affected zones and sensitive locations on Tuesday. During the inspection, officials concerned were directed to maintain continuous monitoring of river levels and possible developments and to ensure swift and effective action in case of any emergency.Officials said that, in accordance with govt directives, district administration completed all prior preparations related to flood management and disaster mitigation. Continuous monitoring of river water levels is being carried out through the District Disaster Control Room.All departments concerned, tehsils and disaster management officials have been issued necessary instructions to deal effectively with any possible flood situation. All resources are active as required. If any abnormal rise in river water levels occurs in the future or a flood situation develops, prompt and effective action will be ensured in accordance with the guidelines issued by the government.
