A “technical issue” with air traffic control is causing disruption to flights across Scotland.
National Air Traffic Services (Nats) said engineers had been called in to deal with the issue at the Prestwick Centre which handles air traffic control across Scotland and the north of England.
The service said the issue was not related to a software defect that led to the cancellation of 2,000 flights across the UK earlier this month.
Passengers have taken to social media to confirm they are experiencing delays at Glasgow and Edinburgh Airport.
A Nats spokesperson said: “We are investigating a technical issue at our Prestwick centre in Scotland.
“To maintain safety, air traffic regulations have been applied to manage traffic demand.”
The spokesperson apologised for the disruption and urged passengers to check with their airline for more information.
