Srinagar, Aug 07 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday slammed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), alleging a “fixed match” between the party and agencies, and said PDP leader Iltija Mufti was not a five-year-old child who would bite someone.
Speaking to reporters in Jammu, Omar Abdullah, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that whenever the PDP’s image or credibility takes a hit, agencies come to its rescue.
“The party is a creation of agencies. It did not evolve on its own, and its credibility was under question after the ‘banta hai’ remark. Agencies come to its rescue whenever its credibility becomes weak. Iltija Mufti is not a five-year-old child that she would bite somebody like this. Even a five-year-old knows that nobody can be bitten like this,” he said.
The Chief Minister alleged that the party was trying to mislead people through “cheap publicity stunts”.
“They are only trying to overshadow the ‘banta hai’ image, but unfortunately, the PDP deserves such things,” he added.
He also welcomed RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks that criticism of the government during recent student protests should not be treated as anti-national.
“Opposing the government is not the same as opposing the country. Often, criticism of the government benefits the country because mistakes are corrected. Whatever action was taken over the irregularities in the NEET examination happened because of this movement.
Perhaps the examination process will improve from now on. This was in the country’s interest,” he said.—(KNO)
