Prayagraj: Manjhanpur police in Kaushambi district have registered an FIR against five people, including three residents of Delhi and one each from Kaushambi and Fatehpur districts, for allegedly cheating three Bihar-based men on the pretext of arranging jobs in Russia.The FIR has been lodged under Sections 318(4) and 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused have been identified as Arif, Ovedar Rehman and Shah Alam, all residents of Delhi, Shahnu Ahmed of Kaushambi, and Babloo of Fatehpur.According to the complaint filed by Ravi Kumar, a resident of Bhojpur district in Bihar, the accused allegedly posed as recruitment agents and collected Rs 3.10 lakh from each of the three men after promising them jobs in Russia. They reportedly told the victims that they would fly from Mumbai on July 21.The complainant alleged that when the three men reached Mumbai airport on July 20, they were informed that their tickets had been cancelled. After returning to Delhi, they visited the agent’s office, only to find it locked.The victims further alleged that when they demanded a refund of the money paid, the accused intimidated them and threatened them with dire consequences.Police said an investigation has been launched and further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
