Ahmedabad: The first round of the centralised online admission process for degree engineering courses in Gujarat has been completed, and approximately 39,000 seats remain vacant. The second round will be conducted after the declaration of supplementary exam results, allowing newly eligible students to participate.Out of a total of 61,316 seats (including tuition fee waiver quota), 33,993 seats were allotted to students in the first round. Among these, only around 21,000 students confirmed their admissions by paying the required fees. Additionally, 65 students cancelled their admissions after confirmation. As a result, approximately 39,000 seats, including 12,000 unconfirmed and 27,000 initially vacant seats, will be available in the second round.A total of 41,688 students out of 45,503 students listed in the merit list participated in the choice-filling process. Around 7,687 students were not allotted any seats due to insufficient or improper choice filling. Computer science and engineering emerged as the most preferred branch, with 15,283 seats allotted.Seat occupancy varies significantly across colleges. While 45 colleges have achieved 100% seat allocation, 29 colleges have filled less than 10% of their seats, and one college has not filled any seats.The registration process for the second round will be conducted from July 1 to July 5. Fresh registrations will be allowed, and the merit list will be updated based on supplementary exam results and revised criteria. Authorities have clarified that students need not submit original documents or pay full fees at this stage, allowing flexibility to participate in subsequent rounds.
