Mangaluru: Kankanady Town police have registered a case against Orla Career Solutions, a firm based in Pumpwell, for allegedly conducting overseas recruitment without the mandatory registration or licence required under the Emigration Act, 1983.The case followed a complaint filed on Sept 25 by the Protector of Emigrants, Bengaluru, under the Union ministry of external affairs. According to the complaint, the office received an email stating that the firm had advertised recruitment interviews from Sept 24 to 26 for candidates seeking jobs in Luxembourg.The complaint alleged that the firm conducted the recruitment process without obtaining mandatory authorisation under the Emigration Act, 1983. Authorities suspect the firm sought to mislead the public by offering overseas employment through unauthorised recruitment, false assurances, and alleged collection of money from job seekers.The complaint stated that unauthorised recruitment, inducement through false promises of overseas employment and collection of money in connection with such employment are offences under Sections 10 and 24 of the Emigration Act, 1983.Further investigation is under way.
