KURUKSHETRA: Bike-borne miscreants fired multiple gunshots at a hotel located on the National Highway (NH) 44 in Shahabad-Markanda town of Kurukshetra district on Thursday. As per sources, the miscreants left a note at the hotel with a name and contact number. The recent murder of a liquor contractor also took place near this crime spot. Luckily, nobody was hurt in this shooting incident.In response to this firing incident, the Kurukshetra police launched a high-priority manhunt and assured that the culprits will be arrested soon.Speaking to the media, Shahabad DSP Ram Kumar informed that at around 5:00 AM on Thursday, police received a call about a shooting at a hotel situated along the busy NH-44. A swift response team rushed to the scene, accompanied by the police’s Scene of Crime Unit, which began a detailed investigation.Preliminary findings reveal that two armed assailants arrived at the hotel on a motorcycle and opened fire before fleeing the scene. The incident has raised serious concerns about public safety in the area.Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police (SP) Nitish Aggarwal also reached the crime site shortly after the incident. Taking stock of the situation, he immediately ordered a cordon of the Kurukshetra district and neighbouring areas to prevent the escape of the accused. Multiple checkpoints have been established, and strict surveillance is being maintained on all major routes and border points.The SP has formed several dedicated teams, including personnel from Crime Investigation Agency (CIA)-I and CIA-II, to intensify the search operation. “We have initiated a comprehensive probe and will arrest the accused soon,” said SP Aggarwal. “Our teams are working on all possible leads, and support from adjoining district police units is also being utilized.”He added that the investigation is being conducted from every possible angle, and the law enforcement agencies are confident that the culprits will be apprehended shortly.Police presence in Shahabad has been significantly ramped up since the incident, with increased patrolling and monitoring at key public spots to ensure public safety and prevent any further disturbance.
