Nagpur: A major fire broke out early Tuesday at two timber establishments in Kalamna, destroying large quantities of wood and machinery and causing an estimated loss of Rs1.25 crore, officials said.The blaze was reported at 1.20am at Rajeshwar Timber Traders and Kamla Timber Traders in Chikhli Layout. Fire tenders from multiple stations rushed to the spot within minutes and began firefighting operations.According to the fire dept, teakwood, two wood-cutting machines, the entire tin shed structure, electrical wiring and an air-conditioning unit were destroyed in the blaze. The cause of the fire remains unknown.Fire personnel, led by station officer AK Sheikh along with a team of officers and firemen, managed to bring the flames under control after coordinated efforts involving units from Kalamna, Civil Lines, Sugat Nagar, Sakkardara, Wathoda, Lakadganj and Cotton Market.Cooling operations were still underway at the site at the time of filing the report. Kalamna police have been informed, and further investigation is in progress.
