Budgam, Sep 9: A residential house and two cow sheds were gutted in a fire that broke out during the intervening night in Khan Mohalla, Gurwait area of Khansahib tehsil in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

According to officials, the fire spread rapidly and engulfed the residential house and two cow sheds within a short span of time. By the time fire tenders reached the spot, the blaze had caused extensive damage to the structures.

The cause of the fire is being ascertained, while the exact extent of property loss is being assessed by the concerned authorities.

Meanwhile, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Khansahib, Jahangir Ahmad Giri has visited the fire-affected families of Khan Mohalla, Gurwait.

the SDM met the affected families and took stock of the situation and the losses suffered by them. As an immediate measure, relief kits and blankets were provided to the affected families to help meet their immediate needs.

The SDM expressed solidarity with the affected families and assured them that the administration would extend all possible assistance and relief as per the prescribed rules and procedures.

He was accompanied by concerned officials from the civil administration and other departments, who assessed the situation and took necessary measures for extending assistance to the affected families.
