New Delhi: A fire broke out at an NDMC godown near Safdarjung airport on Friday evening, triggering panic and affecting traffic in the area. Police received a call around 6pm about the blaze under the Safdarjung flyover, near Prachin Shiv Mandir, and found flames engulfing the structure. “Officers evacuated people from the fire-affected area. Thanks to timely information from a citizen, a major incident was averted,” police said. Six fire tenders and about 40 firefighters brought the blaze under control. The godown reportedly stored construction materials seized during anti-encroachment drives. No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. TNN
