Ghaziabad: A fire broke out at a flat in a society in Indirapuram on Wednesday afternoon. No injuries were reported.The blaze, caused by a short circuit in the third-floor flat of Parshvanath Majestic residential complex in Vaibhav Khand, was extinguished within 30 minutes. Household items and furniture were damaged in the fire.According to the fire department, two fire tenders and one water bowser were used to control the situation.The owner, Anita Khetrapal (60), was sleeping inside and woke up to the smell of smoke. She stepped out and raised an alarm.Her daughter was at the office at the time of the incident. The residents of the society called the fire department.Chief fire officer Rahul Pal said, “The information was received around 1.30pm through Dial 112. Teams were immediately deployed. The fire unit laid a hoseline by lowering a hose pipe from the third floor and entered the flat to bring the fire under control, promptly beginning the firefighting operation. The fire was completely brought under control within a short time before it could spread to the nearby flats. The reason behind the incident is short circuit as of now. The fire took place on a low-rise building of the society and its fire equipment was not working properly, due to which, we took water from the high-rise building of the society. We will check the fire equipment of the society soon.”This is the second major fire in a high-rise within three days. On Sept 13, a fire broke out in a fifth-floor flat of Aditya Mega City in Indirapuram after an AC short circuit. The residents escaped and no casualties were reported.
