Noida: An FIR has been registered against officials of the electricity department after a cow was electrocuted to death in Sector 56, with the complainant alleging that negligence in maintaining electrical infrastructure led to the incident.The case has been registered at the Sector 58 police station following a complaint filed by Vinod Chauhan, district convener of the Bajrang Dal. According to the complaint, the incident took place on Wednesday near Gate No. 1 of Sector 56. The animal came into contact with a live electric current and died on the spot.The complainant alleged that the accident was the result of negligence by electricity department officials and staff, claiming that the electrical line, poles and associated infrastructure were not inspected or maintained properly. He stated that if routine inspections and timely repairs were carried out, the exposed current could have been detected and rectified before the tragedy occurred.The complaint further stated that such negligence poses a serious threat not only to stray cattle but also to pedestrians, residents and commuters using the area. It urged authorities to conduct a fair and impartial investigation to determine responsibility and ensure accountability of the officials concerned.The complainant also demanded strict legal action against those found responsible, arguing that recurring incidents involving exposed electric current highlight the need for better monitoring and maintenance of public electrical infrastructure. He said preventive measures are essential to avoid similar accidents in the future.Police have registered an FIR under Section 325 (mischief by killing or maiming animal) of the BNS against the concerned officials and employees of the electricity department based on the complaint. Investigators are expected to examine the site, assess the condition of the electrical installation and gather technical evidence to determine whether negligence contributed to the animal’s death.Station house officer Amit Tomar of the Sector 58 police station confirmed that a case has been registered. He said investigation is underway and further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
