Kanpur: Farrukhabad police on Wednesday registered a case against two sons of former MLA of the Samajwadi Party Vijay Singh after an explosion occurred in the basement of his residence on Tuesday night.Vijay Singh is serving life sentence in connection with the murder of former energy minister Brahm Dutt Dwivedi.Police said that Singh’s two sons, Abhishek Singh and Avinash Singh, Ishu Chaurasiya, Ramveer Singh Yadav, Rashu Mishra and Bhaiya Lal were injured in the explosion.Police said when they reached the house, they could smell gunpowder at the spot.Vijay Singh’s wife, former Palika Adhyaksh Damyanti Singh, and the injured people did not reveal the cause of the explosion.In-charge of Ghoda Nakhash Chowki Imran Fareed filed an FIR against all the injured peopleOn Wednesday morning, a bomb disposal squad reached the house and began investigation. District magistrate and superintendent of police also took stock of the situation.The anti-terrorist squad from Kanpur also reached the spot for investigation.DIG Harish Chandar said that the forensic team had been called again. “An ATS team has arrived from Kanpur. Samples have been collected for forensic examination,” he said.“The house has been sealed by the police. It is certain that the explosion occurred from inside the house. We have also obtained CCTV footage. Those who were injured in the explosion neither informed the police nor called dial 112. They are still not cooperating in the investigation. Further action will be taken as soon as the team’s report comes in,” he added.
