Varanasi: Police at Sureri station in Jaunpur district registered an FIR against Rajendra Dubey, Vanshnarayan Giri and four unidentified policemen for framing Sushil Kumar Pandey, a resident of Chilbila under Baragaon police station area in Varanasi district, in a false case and planting an illegal firearm as evidence to extort money from him.The FIR, lodged late Tuesday evening, includes charges of kidnapping, robbery, extortion and other offences. Jaunpur SP Kunwar Anupam Singh handed over the investigation to SP Rural Ashish Kumar.According to the complaint, Dubey made the extortion call to Pandey and money was transferred to Vanshnarayan Giri’s bank account. The alleged conspiracy was carried out by four unidentified policemen in plain clothes.In his complaint to the SP, Pandey said that on Sept 13, he received a call from his acquaintance Rajendra Dubey, who asked him to meet. When Sushil reached the main highway, Rajendra was sitting in a car. Four other people arrived and forced him into the vehicle.Pandey alleged that the men identified themselves as policemen though they were in plain clothes and did not show him their identity cards. He was taken to Sureri police station in Jaunpur, outside Varanasi, without informing the local police station. At the police station, the accused made him hold an illegal firearm and recorded a video. They tried to project him as an arms smuggler, pressured him for money and made him sign a blank paper that had something written at the top.Pandey claimed the policemen demanded Rs 5 lakh and threatened to send him to jail in cases under the NDPS Act by planting ganja and other narcotics along with the firearm as evidence if he failed to pay. He was forced to call his family and arrange for the money.According to Pandey, his family members reached Sureri police station and after negotiations paid Rs 1.05 lakh in cash. He further alleged that he was assaulted and forced to disclose his mobile UPI details, after which money was transferred online three times to Vanshnarayan Giri’s account. The transactions were of Rs 55,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 299. Pandey provided the date, time and transaction IDs of all three payments as evidence.He also alleged that after receiving the money, the accused threatened to make the video viral, shoot him in the leg and implicate his entire family in criminal cases if he filed a complaint.The victim requested that CCTV footage from Sureri police station dated Sep 13 be secured. He also sought to save the video in which he was made to hold the firearm and the paper on which his signatures were taken, describing them as crucial evidence.SP said an FIR was registered on the victim’s complaint and the investigation was assigned to SP Rural.
