Prayagraj: An FIR was registered against more than 100 residents of Ahina (Mandhata) village in Pratapgarh and adjoining areas for allegedly storming the 132 KV power substation in Mandhata on Saturday evening, shutting off the power supply, assaulting employees and obstructing official duties.The villagers said they had repeatedly raised concerns over erratic power supply and low voltage, but to no avail, and appealed to power department officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply.Junior engineer (power department) Rajesh Kumar lodged an FIR at Jethwara police station on Sunday against eight named persons and more than 100 others under Sections 191(2), 115(2), 132 and 351(2) of the BNS. He also accused the mob of threatening the employees with dire consequences.Police said, “A group of people led by Badal Patel, a resident of Ahina village, along with Pappu Saroj, Monu Singh, Amit Tiwari alias Deepu, Prabhat Tiwari, Dilip Tiwari, Baidhnath Saroj, Sanjay Singh and more than 100 other unknown individuals, forcibly entered the 132 KV Substation Mandhata on Saturday and allegedly assaulted employees, shut off the power supply of the electrical substation and obstructed official work.”The villagers also allegedly issued threats, stating that if their demands were not met, they would call more people, force the power house to shut down completely and cause vandalism. Upon being alerted, a team of Jethwara police arrived at the spot, got the power supply at the electrical substation restored and cleared everyone from the substation premises.
