Nagpur: After remaining shut for nearly two months despite being fully constructed, the much-awaited Rs150 crore Dipti Signal-Wardhaman Nagar Road flyover will finally be open to the public on July 12. Union minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the four-lane flyover in the presence of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, East Nagpur MLA Krishna Khopde and other dignitaries. The opening will bring major relief to thousands of commuters from east Nagpur, who endured long traffic snarls in the past. The Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (MRIDC), also known as MahaRail, kept the ROB closed while awaiting a formal VIP inauguration. The delay drew criticism from citizens and motorists who questioned why the completed infrastructure could not be opened immediately.Constructed at Railway Crossing No 73 between Itwari and Dighori railway stations, the 1,320m long flyover connects Bhagwan Sambhavnath Square (Wardhaman Nagar) with Dipti Signal Road. The project is expected to eliminate delays at the busy railway crossing, significantly improve traffic movement, reduce travel time, and enhance road safety in one of east Nagpur’s busiest traffic corridors.Besides the main four-lane carriageway and a roundabout designed to streamline merging traffic, the project also includes a connecting arm towards Kalamna Road, which is currently under construction. The project was taken up following sustained efforts and repeated follow-ups by East Nagpur MLA Khopde, who consistently pursued the demand for a grade separator to decongest one of the city’s worst railway bottlenecks. The flyover is also part of the state’s broader initiative to eliminate railway level crossings and improve urban mobility.Describing the project as another historic development gift for the citizens of East Nagpur, officials said the flyover will make travel smoother, safer and faster while boosting connectivity and supporting the area’s overall development.WAIT OVERFlyover connects Bhagwan Sambhavnath Chowk to Dipti Signal RoadAnother arm towards Kalamna is under constructionNUMBER1.32km Total length of the 4-lane high-capacity configuration flyover
