Panaji: Churchill Brothers FC can start registering players again after FIFA lifted the national registration ban imposed on the club last week.FIFA had imposed a three-window registration ban on the club, which restricted the two-time former I-League champions from registering new players. The ban followed a contractual dispute with their former player, Kurtis Guthrie.Churchill, however, said they were not aware of the registration ban due to a technical issue and made full payment to Guthrie in less than 24 hours. Details of the payment were emailed to FIFA, the governing body for world football, and the club has now received confirmation that the ban has been lifted.Churchill have also been removed from the FIFA Registration Ban List, available online. The list includes clubs that are temporarily prohibited from registering new players due to various infractions, such as financial disputes or regulatory breaches.Meanwhile, Churchill continue to strengthen themselves ahead of their debut in the top tier Indian Super League (ISL). According to sources, the club has completed the signing of Melroy Assisi from Diamond Harbour and Gaurav Bora of Mohammedan Sporting.Melroy was part of Diamond Harbour’s Indian Football League (IFL) winning squad last season, and previously donned colours for Punjab FC, Chennaiyin FC and Rajasthan United.Former India U-23 defender Gaurav Bora has made 83 appearances in the ISL, representing Odisha FC, NorthEast United and Mohammedan Sporting.
